Pumpkin Quest.

This gal and her pup decided to go on a  mission to find tinned pumpkin...
Its pretty rare, the only supermarket in the UK to really stock it is Waitrose, which is a 2 hour round trip on foot... (really need to pass my driving test ay es ay pee) So me and Beebz threw on our rucksacks and set off for a adventure.

a beautiful autumnal evening.

We stopped to refuel, picnic style by the river with a diet cola for me and water and kibble for Bobbin.
After  bit more trekking, we finally made it! Got the pumpkin, got out, no messin' and headed back home with the supermarket's whole shelf supply of pumpkin. plus a bonus...this cute munchkin pump..

OHHHHH and found another munchkin pumpkin too...
(f.y.i first Bake n Beebz video installment! may make it a regular occurrence.) Dunno how happy Bobbin is with me making her play halloween dress up. but it makes me very happy, indeed.
So excited to get baking! there's so many pumpkin recipes I have been dying to try out for so long...

Blackbeeberry pickin'

Me and Beebs went adventuring into the English country side for an afternoon of foraging for Blackberries.
We got a little brave and climbed a tree, then instantly got scared and jumped down, Treked across some fields and woodland paths until we found our berries.
I spotted the berries on one off our previous walks I picked and ate most of them straight up, because I didn't have a bag to pop them in, but I decided to return yesterday to claim the rest!  I love the fact that these free tasty morsels are on practically on my doorstep and usually over looked but in a  supermarket you would pay outrageous amounts for a teeeny weeeney meany plastic pot of berries. I think I'm Going to do a spot of baking with our abundant crop!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY.

Judging by this text I received yesterday, we were defiantly made for each other...
Yup Its mine and Mr bake n beebz' Anniversary today. I was 16 when we met and boy has time flown by!
LOVE YOU HARRY!
We spent this sweltering summer's afternoon strolling around the lake and park with Bobbin, The weather was stunning and the park was packed!  After we walked up to town and treated ourselves to a slap up meal to celebrate.

We dined at Wagamamas, one of our favourites, specializing in tasty simple Japanese food. They also go out of their way to cater for all allergies and help you select a meal.

I chose the Saien Soba - noodles in a vegetable soup topped with fried tofu, beansprouts, courgettes, asparagus, red onion, leeks, mushrooms, mangetout and garlic. garnished with spring onio. They used rice noodles instead of wheat and substitued the miso soup for a gluten friendly base.

We have been to Wagamamas many times and I wanted to try something I don't normally get and although i love the way they are so brilliant at adapting, this was a little lacking in flavour, but I still happily slurped it up! (It made me miss the days when I woulda ordered whatever the heck I liked.)

Harry went for his favourite... chilli ramen and polished it off.
Harrys bowl had noodles in a spicy chicken and pork soup topped with your choice of chicken or beef sirloin, beansprouts, red and spring onions and chillies. garnished with coriander and lime.
Bobbin waited patiently under the table for her noodle scraps ;) I have no shame.
(oh and shes had a haircut... she came into my salon to have a her hacked off this morning.)
Whilst in town we did a little shopping and I had to buy the cupcake version of the muffin dog toy....
she had trouble deciding which to chew on for dessert...
In the end she wanted cake.
Whilst us humans had real cupcakes...
I baked some special anniversary GF chocolate cupcakes. These were lovely, decadent and fudgey...going into for my second and about to slip into chocolate coma.

Recipe to come!

weekend round up.... bits and beebz.

Soooo this last week has been completely exhausting, physically and mentally. not much time to post as I have had a major upheaval, and moved all my worldly possessions from my spacious flat... back to my small room at my parents. Its amazing how much stuff I have accumulated.
Spent most of this weekend reshuffling, organizing and cleaning and finally my bedroom is habitable and ready for me and Beebz to take up residence! ere's a sneek peek of ma new place...
Beebz has definatly made herself at home already...
Me and my family have been on many a long country walk since being back ohhhh and bobbins got a new toy...
This dog loves and gets just as excitable about a muffin as me. I think this one is gluten free too...
But this turns out not to be my favourite kind, Bobbin's muffin has a pretty annoying squeak.. that never ever stops. After looking at these piccys its clear she is due for a hair cut very soon.
For dinner tonight I had a delicious home cooked, roast Mediterranean lasagna! since be coming gluten free pasta seems something of a luxury and I really enjoyed this simple Italian supper.
The roast veg ratatouille was very flavoursome, featuring butternut squash, bell peppers, courgette and tomatoes... but my favourite part was the crispy cheesy top. mmmm hmmmm. Will have to get the recipe and post it on here.

Anyway, not the most exciting post but, Ill be back to baking AYYYY S.A.P.

Beebz is fast asleep, snoring/ having doggy dreams (probably about that muffin) and Im Off to bed early. Exciting day ahead tomorrow....

Hope you had a lovely weekend!
